K8 Installation

P4 Installation
- STEP 1 -
- STEP 2 -
Test bed, ABIT IC7.
Put an even, thin layer of thermal grease on both CPU IHS and HSF base.

- STEP 3 -
- STEP 4 -
Remove stock chipset cooler for now to ease our installation.
Hook one side of RM clips on as shown.

- STEP 5 -
- STEP 6 -
Take a small flat screw driver and push another side in then double check to make sure HSF is flatly secure on top of CPU IHS.
Do not forget to place chipset cooler back on the motherboard.

- STEP 7 -
- STEP 8 -
Slide fan clips in one side at the time, to this opening.
We are ready to put the 120 mm fan on it now.

- STEP 9 -
Finished, remember to plug the fan power to your PSU prior to BOOT up.


K8 Installation
- STEP 1 -
- STEP 2 -
Here is the testbed we are installing XP-120 on. ASUS K8V SE Deluxe
Take a Philip screwdriver and remove both screws from stock RM.

- STEP 4 -
Put enclosed K8 adaptive RM on and secure it with enclosed M3 15mm screws.
Tighten both screws, these screws are chosen so motherboard will not seesawing after installed.

- STEP 5 -
- STEP 6 -
Place CPU into the socket and put a thin, even layer of thermal grease on both CPU IHS and heatsink base.
Hook 2 heatsink clips on one side into the holes on RM as shown.


- STEP 7 -
- STEP 8 -
Push the other side down with your hand, and use a small flat screwdriver to push the clips from other side into the RM holes.
Double check on the clips to make sure all 4 hooks are firmly hooked into RM.

- STEP 9 -
- STEP 10 -
Separate both blue vibration damper strips from the paper, then place the glue side on the edge of heatsink fins as shown.
Place one side of the fan clip here, then repeat on the other side.

- STEP 11 -

After make sure fan casing is on top of blue rubber strips, clip notch needs to place in the screw holes on the fan casing here.
Plug in the RPM signal plug on the motherboard, and here is the finished photo.

Should we put a fan grill on it?
Or we can put a Delta GFB1212VHW monster fan on it. ;)

- STEP 15 -
Yes, DDR modules can still fit under the fins.
